White Bear Youth Football 1st Annual Raffle - 2021
White Bear Youth Football takes pride in running a program that is highly accessible and fun. We enjoy creating an opportunity for players to participate in a great team sport where players not only learn the game of Football, but also learn about hard work, commitment, teamwork and grit!
For years, we’ve avoided any extra fund raising for our program and instead have relied almost exclusively on Sponsors and Team Fees to run our program. As we embark into the next ten years, we recognize the need to invest further in our players via new equipment, coaching training, player development, improving our fields and continuing to make Youth Football one of the most affordable sports to participate in. With this in mind, we’re embarking on an optional fund raising effort for the first time. This is not something we plan to mandate or pressure people to do, but participation is greatly appreciated! Here are the details of our first ever WBYF Raffle.
What: Annual preseason Raffle, with tickets sold for $10 by the Association and Association Families. $9,000 in total prizes awarded across 51 winners!
Prizes: $9,000 in all cash prizes of the following amounts and number of winners:

Drawing - the Drawing will be held at Podvin Park on Sunday, August 22nd at 12PM - you do not need to be present to win
What is it for?: Proceeds from the raffle will go towards practice equipment, field equipment, coach training, free camps and to keep the cost of playing Youth Football as low as possible!
How it Works: If families choose to participate, the attached order form can be used to pre-sell tickets to family, friends, neighbors, etc. Simply indicate your buyer and how many tickets they want, collect the ticket money (cash or check to WBYF) and turn in the order form to WBYF at one of the designated dates/times to receive your raffle tickets.
Alternatively, you can pre-pay/buy tickets from WBYF and re-sell them on your own.
Participation: Participation is optional, but we’d love to see each family sell 10 raffle tickets. There are great prizes for those who decide to participate, including:
Drawing for a Vikings mini-helmet signed by Harrison Smith - all players who sell 10 or more tickets are entered into the drawing
Cash prizes for the top five sellers (based on total tickets sold)

7th and 8th grade players, hold tight until the skills combine at Podvin Park on Wednesday, July 28th, more details to come.

A few important updates:
Pre-Season Camp - we will be holding three consecutive "Warm Up for Football" camps at Podvin Park, July 13, July 20, July 27 from 6PM-8PM. These camps are free to all registered players! Gear for the camps will be helmets, t-shirts, shorts, cleats
Gear - a separate note on what gear you will need is below.
Weigh-Ins - we will be posting weigh in dates on our calendar and will send a note once dates, locations and times are finalized, these will be offered primarily the week of July 12 and July 19
7th - 8th Grade Only - Combine - mark your calendar for our combine (test speed, skill, etc.) on July 28th
Season Start - teams will be formed in late July/early August with practices starting the week of August 9th and games potentially starting as early as the week of August 30th

We have been receiving a number of questions about what gear your player will need for the season. Here is a the list of gear you'll want to get for your player:
Helmet - White
Pants - Black (if you already have white, that works as well, no need to buy new pants, but if you do buy new pants, buy black)
Other gear such as gloves are completely optional.
White Bear Youth Football recommends you check out our partner Revolution Sports in Vadnais Heights, who is putting together an equipment package for WBYF players. You can discuss the staff at Revolution at one of the upcoming weigh ins they are hosting.
Tuesday Night Light at Podvin
Per our note on accepting donations for our unexpected COVID expenses, including face shields, we are accepting donations through the button, below.
We have heard from both leagues we play in, Forest Lake for 4th-6th and North Suburban for 7th-8th, that Youth Football has been cleared to play for the 2020 season by the Minnesota Department of Health! We will be moving forward under our COVID policy and plan.
As we continue to move forward with the season, there are a few housekeeping items we need everyone to take care of, if you haven't already, to go forward with the season.
1. COVID Waiver (new) - please review and acknowledge/accept our COVID policy and waiver for the season. This is a requirement for all players and coaches and you will be unable to practice or participate in games until you sign the waiver. 2. Season Payment (reminder) - final payment, whether you are paying a single payment or two 50% payments, is due this Wednesday, August 12th. You will be unable to start practice if you have not at least paid 50% of your invoice by the start of practice. If you can’t find your invoice, are not planning on playing or have questions about payment, please contact Brian Sauer at firstname.lastname@example.org
3. 4th-6th Grade Weigh-In (reminder) - if you are a player in grades 4th-6th who has not yet weighed in, there will be a final make-up session this Wednesday, August 12th, at Podvin Park from 6:00PM-7:00PM. If you do not get weighed by WBYF, you will not be able to carry the ball, even if under the ball carrying limit.

The development of character, sportsmanship, and knowledge of their sport are the goals of any amateur sports program. Our children learn from our examples, and we as parents need to exemplify the highest level of sportsmanship by supporting all players, coaches, and referees.
Please review our full Parent and Fan Code of Conduct for a complete view of your important role supporting your player grow and learn the sport of Football.
Win or lose, every player has a responsibility to their team and to the sport to conduct themselves with good sportsmanship.
Please take time to have your player review these expectations and please help to reinforce the Player's Code of Conduct.
